Intern Resource Guide
The PDS Intern Guide was written to answer some of your questions and to provide helpful suggestions for how to have a successful year as an intern in the Penn State - State College Area School District Elementary PDS. Keep the Intern Guide as a reference and refer to it this year when you wonder what's coming next or are curious about what you need to do to be effective in the classroom. At times, your mentor or PDA may go over parts of the Intern Guide with you or ask you to think about some of the specific teaching behaviors that you should include in your daily practice.

Resource Guide for Working with ESL Students
This handbook, prepared by Ellen Key, provides ideas for working effectively with learners whose native language is not English. Although the handbook was prepared with an audience of beginning teachers in mind, the information might be helpful to all teachers. If you have questions or comments, contact Ellen Key at eek130@psu.edu.

Useful Resources Shared by Interns
At the request of some interns, we have established a link to an ANGEL site where interns can share creative ideas and resources with each other. When you click on the link, you will be taken to the ANGEL site. Once you sign in, using your PSU User ID and password, you will find the message boards for resources in several different content areas. This is an excellent opportunity to share and to find resources. (Please feel free to edit for clarity.)

FYI...Educational Website Database
Teachers needed a place to store the tried-and-true website resources that they have identified on the World Wide Web and have used in conjunction with State College units. The FYI…Educational Website Database (FYI) was created to house curriculum-related web sites recommended by teachers.
FYI is located on a College of Education server at Penn State University: http://www.ed.psu.edu/pds/fyi
